STUDY RESEARCH ON THE RESULT OF IMPLEMENTATION OF THE METHOD-DEBATE IN THEIR BIOLOGICAL TRAINING

Abstract

At the present stage of the development of the Bulgarian school teachers find themselves in a new social and school environment. They face the challenges of today which place high demands on their personality, their professional training and qualification. Assessing the significance of this issue, the current empirical study is aiming at developing a theoretically grounded and effective methodology for conducting a school debate as well as its experimental verification in the study of biological and health education in grades 7, 8 and 9, regarding raising students’ motivation. For this purpose, a questionnaire has been developed to examine the students' opinion of raising their motivation in three directions: interest, attitude, communicativeness. The questionnaire was conducted among students from four schools in the country, after having biology lessons through the interactive method of debating. The results of the questionnaire show that debating is a method that contributes not only to the development of students' personal qualities, such as creativity, communicativeness, attitude, research thinking, but also on the basis of the development of these qualities, training through debating increases students’ motivation
