THE LANGUAGE OF THE BIBLE
The books of Scripture have been the subject of various studies by numerous and qualified scholars. The language of the first translations from the ninth to the tenth century and its study constitute an entire epoch in Slavic studies. During the epoch of the Bulgarian Revival the translations into modern Bulgarian were considered mainly from a cultural-historical aspect. Much later, linguistic studies appeared that looked at changes and corrections to translations from the language from which they were being translated, as well as more general linguistic changes. The role of the language of the Bible in the linguistic processes during the Revival and in the history of the modern Bulgarian literary language is also the subject of publications. The subject of the article is the language of the books of the Old and New Testaments in a comparative plan in the translations of the Bible Society and the Holy Synod. The aim is to note mainly the differences in linguistic expressions, as well as some stylistic features.
