Abstract

The latest movement of people from one place to the other and new opportunities in employment and education have created a new linguistic situation in the last 30 years. The individual, when he is found in between an inter-language conflict, is involved in bilingualism. The speaker in a bilingual  situation is found in a situation of conflict and ambiguity, because he feels he cannot converse fluently. A bilingual speaker must ask himself subconsciously at the beginning of every linguistic interaction, if he is in a monolingual or in a bilingual model of language production or decodification.

In this work we aim to observe the situation of second language acquisition and usage according to a new viewpoint, which is supported on contemporary literature with methodologies  and analyses  which these new theories offer.
We will analyze:

     - How does the status of the language change through the years?

    -  How do languages in bilinguals grow or wither and which factors affect that?

    -  How do bilinguals choose between the different languages?

    -  How do  bilinguals behave themselves in different linguistic situations?

   -   How do bilinguals deactivate other languages when they find themselves in the monolingual mode by placing themselves in the monolingual part of speech and how do they switch to the bilingual mode?

In this work we will analyze the influence of the Albanian language with its specifics, in the cases in which it is the L1 for the speakers.

We will present the results of research done with individuals which use two or more languages. This research spans through a wide timescale and the individuals have been observed for many years.
