Abstract

Polypropylene bags for packing goods are, in addition to jute bags, the most present on the market. Jute
bags are one of the first flexible packaging products to gain popularity as inexpensive packaging materials for
granular and powder materials. The main advantages of these bags are low price, strength, the possibility of a
serious load and very good other performance. The main disadvantages are insect susceptibility and contamination
with mineral oils commonly used in yarn and pre-yarn processing. The amount of production and the price of jute
fiber is related to the cultivation of the plant, weather conditions and a number of other variables that affect farmers
and their decision to grow profitable or food crops. Over the years, the constant increase in jute use has led to a real
shortage of these fibers. One of the jute products, multilayer paper bags, dominated the field, but rising paper costs
have made them uneconomical in cases where solid packaging products are needed. In recent years, as a good
packaging material, synthetic bags have appeared, which are used for packaging larger quantities of fertilizers,
chemicals, food products, cement, etc. Bags made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) tape
are quite popular as a better replacement for conventional jute bags. These woven bags are waterproof and nonrotting,
chemically inert, and are suitable for packaging various chemicals, plastic granules, etc. Compared to jute
bags of the same dimensions, HDPE/PP bags are much lighter, stronger and can withstand higher impact loads
because they have high tensile strength and tensile strength is 15 to 25 percent, compared to 3 percent for jute.
Fabrics can be produced on both circular and flat looms. In circular looms, the woven material is obtained in a
tubular form, which can be converted into bags by sewing one side (bottom). Flat looms produce an open fabric and
in that case the bag is formed by sewing three sides. HDPE or PP woven bags of the same dimensions, weave
density and strength, usually have a mass that makes up a quarter of the weight of jute bags. Accordingly, the weight
per bag or per square meter of fabric is lower, which results in a reduction in the cost of transporting empty bags.
HDPE/PP fabrics are odorless, unlike jute, these fabrics can be in different colors and can be printed with clear and
colored labels. The visually beautiful look and shine of the bag is very important for promotional purposes, so it is
very present on the market. This paper describes the behavior and specifics of polypropylene bags, given today's
expansion in use, comparing them with classic and common jute bags, which have been widely used until recently
