Some areas in the world are much more affected by these events, some of which can kill thousands of people. Hence, the disasters are rare events but with a very high impact on the lives of many people. They can be natural disasters or disasters caused by man, considering that the environmental catastrophic risks and pollution have serious consequences. We are aware that natural disasters are caused by natural forces and they are manifested in the form of earthquakes, fire (including forest fires), floods, droughts, avalanches, storms, landslides, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, etc.
Considering that the climate change is more and more visible and in the rise, manifested by major storms and other disasters, the nature is sending a clear message to us to be more cautious and take preventive measures in order to minimize and channel them, in particular disasters such as earthquakes, tornados, Tsunami, flood, hurricanes, etc. The main climate changes are increasingly caused by these phenomena throughout the world, hence the question: which are the worst natural disasters in the history?
Even though nowadays the mankind has a very developed technology, it still does not have a protection against the nature and the worst destructive disasters. We are witnesses of increasingly frequent disasters such as: hurricanes, tsunami, extreme rainfalls, droughts, dense snowfalls as a result of the climate change. And on the destruction of planet Earth “the mother nature”, in a way a light is shed on us through the worst disasters!
One of the common characteristics of natural risks, which applies to the majority of them, is the suddenness of their appearance (e.g. earthquakes, landslides, open fires, etc.) Even though, through scientific and technological advancements to some extent some natural disasters can be predicted as far as their location and time is concerned (e.g. floods, hurricanes, low temperatures, draughts, hail, etc.)
}, number={1}, journal={KNOWLEDGE - International Journal }, author={Maxhuni, Bahtir}, year={2020}, month={Jan.}, pages={135–139} }
