The process of globalization creates wider opportunities for accomplishment, and at the same time offers an increasingly competitive professional environment and increasingly challenges for healthcare professionals. The rapidly changing professional routine in the context of the continuous introduction of new diagnostic and healing technologies in healthcare institutions requires the continuous training of medical staff to be an ever-going process. One of the main options for facilitating access to continuing education for healthcare professionals, including medical technicians, is the use of e-learning. E-learning is seen as a supporting technology, mainly in students' theoretical training. There are a number of advantages of e-learning as well as some deficiencies. Related with the learners factors have also been taken into account – a set of characteristics, typical of each participant - previous experience, motives, attitude to learning, especially to e-learning, etc. The advantages of distance learning from the point of view of adult learning theories are examined. The object is to study the interest in distant forms of continuing education among medical technicians.<br>Three groups of people - 42 students from the major “Medical technician” at Trakian University, Medical College - Stara Zagora, 111 working medical technicians and 38 doctors in medical laboratories, in the districts of Stara Zagora, Sliven and Yambol have been studied. Specific questionnaires for each of the groups were used to obtain the analysis data. The statistical processing of empirical data has been done with the STATISTICA package for statistical analysis in social sciences.<br>The results of the respondents' needs for additional training for work with information technologies and their interest in distance forms of continuing education have been analyzed. Interest in distance learning in longer-term forms of specializing continuing education has been studied.</p> ER -
