EXPRESSIVE METAPHORS OF HEAD
Keywords:
expressive metaphors, contrast, semantic traitAbstract
The metaphor, like the conveyance of signifiers by the similarity of signifiers, has aroused continued interest in classical rhetoric. Metaphors are different in type - cognitive metaphors, conceptual metaphors, expressive metaphors, elliptical metaphors and more. The subject of the article is the expressive metaphors of an important part of the human body - the head. Nayden Gerov's dictionary was taken as the source. An attempt has been made to discover the common, which connects part of the expressive metaphors of the head in a semantic whole. In our view, this is a void. Finally, according to the semantic law of associative connections through analogies and contrasts, the parts of the body that are usually opposed to the head - leg and tail - are briefly described.
