COMPARISON OF SOME STATISTICAL INDICATORS BETWEEN MEN'S AND WOMEN'S 3X3 BASKETBALL TEAMS AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES TOKYO' 2020

Abstract

With the approval and inclusion of the 3x3 basketball game in the Tokyo Olympic program, '2020 new challenges arose for the specialists involved in the game, as well as the requirements for the sports and technical staff increased. Moreover, the huge interest aroused by the Olympic tournament has increased the focus on 3x3 basketball and expectations for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics are extremely high. The interest of the sports and technical staff and research aimed at improving, enriching and updating the methods and methodologies for more successful performances of the teams. Our study has exactly this task - to compare some statistics from the Tokyo Olympic tournament between men and women, to draw appropriate conclusions and give guidance and ideas to professionals in their future work. We compared the indicators for shooting from the three zones - for 2 and 1 points, as well as the shooting from the penalty line. We also compared the number of mistakes made, the final passes (assists) and the successfully mastered balls in attack and defense. In terms of shooting, the average number of attempts to match from all positions in both sexes is approximately equal (29.5 men; 30.4 women), but the success rate for men is 49% and for women 44%. The average number of balls won in attack per match is almost equal (5.1 and 5.0), but in defense women have won 1.4 balls more per game than men (9.3 for men against 10.7 for women) . Women made 1.1 more errors per game than men (4.5 vs. 5.6), with assists for men averaging 3.4 per game and 3.0 for women. All indicators were examined with an equal total number of matches for both contingents - 68.
