CHALLENGES WITH STUDENTS ADAPTATION FROM “MIDWIFE” FACULTY IN TERMS OF ONLINE EDUCATION

Abstract

Arise of the Covid – 19 pandemic in March 2020 and followed anti-epidemic measures caused changes in all areas of public life including high-level medical education. The following actions were taken against spreading covid -19, which initial goal was to preserve human life and health, but the restrictions led to negative consequences for people’s businesses and social interactions. All areas of civil services had to start searching for alternatives in order to survive and keep being operational. In the new environment medical schools had to take different approach and the solution was online education. The restrictions against spreading of Covid – 19 limited personal attending in the medical universities and the learning process was transferred online. Gaining of experience in “Midwife” discipline requires attitude for active studying, which includes learning of theory and with accomplishment of this goal students can be successfully transformed into professional persons, with practical skills and behavior.
The goals of the recent study is to survey some aspects of online education and students behavior in adapting to the new environment, approaches of tutoring, school term and the possibilities concerning their health during that time.
Materials and methodsThe research was conducted between 80 scholars (in which they participated willingly) at first, second and third year of their education at FPHHC (Faculty of public health and healthcare) from University “Prof. d-r Asen Zlatarov” and The Trakia University, Medical faculty of Stara Zagora. In the finished questionnaire students received an opportunity to give answers to open questions, express their opinion, satisfaction and make suggestions for improving the new system of online education.
Discussion and Outcome. The results have shown that right combination of traditional and interactive means in electronic educations could improve students skills for building knowledge in terms of pandemic. Students give positive feedback that substantial and socializing skilled are received during school practices in a real environment. They are not facing significant difficulties in education and taking exams at online environment. The quality of preparation depends on the motivation, individual abilities and adaptive potential of the students, the lectors support is also crucial for the effectiveness of the proccess
