ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SHOCK WAVE THERAPY AND OTHER STANDARD PROCEDURES OF PHYSICAL THERAPY ON DAILY LIFE ACTIVITIES OF PERSONS WITH PAINFUL SHOULDER SYNDROME

The purpose of the work was to analyze the sociodemographic characteristics of the subjects (age,
gender), and to analyze the effects of shock wave therapy on shoulder function and daily life activities of subjects
with painful shoulder syndrome with the help of the DASH questionnaire
Material and methods: In this retrospective, descriptive, analytical study we included 30 subjects with a diagnosis of
pain shoulder, treated at MHS - a private practice for physical therapy and rehabilitation in Sarajevo. The DASH
questionnaire was used to assess the condition of the subject's upper extremity before and after the rehabilitation
treatment. As part of the rehabilitation treatment of the subjects included in the study, shock wave therapy was
applied, along with other modalities of physical therapy for ten days.
Results: The analysis of the average values of the DASH index shows a statistically significant difference between
the values at admission and the values at discharge. The value of the mentioned index at discharge was significantly
lower than at admission, which shows improvement (a lower score suggests a lower disability and vice versa).
Conclusion: Shock wave therapy is the method of choice that is very effective in the treatment of painful shoulder
syndrome, in terms of improving activities of daily life, and improving reduced shoulder function, which we have
proven on the example of our respondents.
Recommendations: Use shock wave therapy as an effective method of choice in combination with other modalities
of physical therapy in the treatment of painful shoulder syndrome, in terms of improving activities of daily life, and
improving reduced shoulder function
