Abstract

In this paper, the emphasis is placed on the connection of the subject of technical culture with the
professional orientation of pupils in the school, however the aim of the conducted research is to examine the
perception of students and teachers whether the subject of technical culture is sufficiently related to the professional
orientation of pupils. The paper points to the need for thematisation, research, connection of the subject of technical
culture with the professional orientation of pupils, the importance of the subject of technical culture for professional
guidance within the school, and the factors that influence the professional choice. The research was done
according to the research tasks based on the assessment of the attitudes of students and teachers. For each set task,
hypotheses were tested, which helped us to confirm the general hypothesis related to the subject of the research,
which reads: “The technical culture subject is sufficiently connected with the professional orientation of the
students”. A survey questionnaire, meaning Likert scale of estimates, was compiled as a data collection tool for the
needs of the research. In this paper the results of the research on the connection of subjects of technical culture with
professional orientation of pupils are used. The sample included 82 students of the ninth grade of the primary school
„6.mart“ Hadžići and primary school „Hadžići“ and 30 teachers of technical culture from schools from the Canton
Sarajevo area. The results of the research have shown that there is a connection between the professional orientation
and the subject of technical culture in the school, and that the role of the subject of technical culture in the
professional orientation of students is very significant.
On the basis of the obtained research results, it can be concluded that the teaching contents of the subject of
technical culture course, in relation to other subjects, give more thought to the possibilities of further education or
employment and provide more information about the professional orientation of pupils.
The results of this research can direct teachers to strengthen their actions in relation to students in the area of
professional orientation and contribute to the higher quality of this important task in partnership with all participants
in the teaching process. Vocational guidance can only succeed when it is understood as the goal of the whole school.
Based on this, it is more necessary for the school to integrate these areas into teaching, and to involve teachers,
parents and other important external partners in the process of professional guidance. It is necessary for the service
for professional orientation to be included in the school and to be in constant contact with students and parents. This
would ensure that the students are trained as soon as possible and involved in certain professions
