Abstract

China is an important trade partner of the Republic of North Macedonia. Exactly, the subject of analysis in this paper is the value, dynamics and structure of trade between the Republic of North Macedonia and China, for the time period 2014-2023. The empirical analysis in the paper is based on the trade intensity index (Trade Intensities Index -TII), and the main source of data are the State Statistical Office of the RSM, the International Trade Center (ITC), as well as the database for trade in goods of United Nations (UN Comtrade). The results of the analysis indicate the fact that the import intensity index in the exchange between North Macedonia and China in the analyzed period 2014-2023 is less than 1, which means that the trade intensity in the exchange between the two countries is not high. Both on the import side and on the export side, the index is less than 1. The trade balance between North Macedonia and China has always been unfavorable, that is, North Macedonia imports more than it exports, which can easily be seen in the index of import intensity in the analyzed period. The intensity of imports in the analyzed period is higher than the intensity of exports.
