APPLICATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL STANDARD CLASSIFICATION OF EDUCATION IN THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM (IN CASE OF BULGARIA)
Keywords:
International standard classification of education, educational system, life cycleAbstract
The purpose of this article is to highlight the main specifics of the application of the International Standard Classification of Education. Its transformation in the Bulgarian educational system and its transposition into the life cycle of individuals. The main differences between the previous International Standard Classification of Education and the current one are presented through a comparative analysis. Empirical data on key indicators and classification levels are presented. The dynamics of indicators such as: students, educational institutions, employees in the education sector, the teacher-student ratio and the public funds spent by levels of education are observed. A tendency to reduce the number of students has been outlined, which is a prerequisite for a number of social and economic challenges facing Bulgaria. The education sector in Bulgaria (as a total number of institutions) is "shrinking" - the main reason of it is the demographic decline. Following the dynamics of employees in the educational system and deriving the "teacher-student" ratio, there is a lack of negative impact on the number of teachers. There is a relative sustainability of public spending on education, which is a prerequisite for achieving greater stability of the education in Bulgaria
