THE SITUATION WITH RESPIRATORY DISEASES IN THE POPULATION OF THE SKOPJE REGION FOR 2021

The purpose of the research of this paper is to present the situation with the most common respiratory diseases of the population of the Region of Skopje for 2021. To point out the severity of the diseases and the need for proper and early diagnosis of the same and to point out appropriate preventive measures for the respiratory diseases.
Research methodology: In this research, were used the standard summary reports from the ambulance-polyclinic activity of the service for general medicine, health care of children, school children and youth, as well as the Individual report for inpatient treatment from the hospital health care. The method of work is descriptive with retrospective analysis of the given data.
Results of the research: The first place in the structure of the most common subcategories of diseases of the respiratory system (J00-J99) in the field of general medicine, health care of school children and youth and health care of children in the Region of Skopje for 2021 is occupied by the subcategory acute pharyngitis and acute tonsillitis (J02-J03). In the field of general medicine, 33% of the total number of registered respiratory diseases fall into this subcategory; in the activity of health care of school children and youth 56% of the total number of registered diseases is from this subcategory, while in the activity of health protection of children the representation is 45%. In the structure of the hospital activity for 2021, the largest share of treated patients from the group of diseases of the respiratory system (J00-J99) belongs to subcategory J18 Pneumonia, microorganism unmarked, ie 41% of all hospitalizations with registered diseases of this group.
Conclusions: The outpatient polyclinic activity is dominated by acute tonsillitis and pharyngitis as the most common reason for visiting a doctor during 2021 in all activities, but most often for children aged 0-6 years. The most common reason for hospitalization during 2021 was Pneumonia from an unmarked microorganism for both sexes equally and most often for children aged 1-4 years.
Recommendations: The recommendations arising from this paper are aimed at emphasizing the importance of prevention of respiratory diseases and emphasizing the importance of health and educational measures. In that regard, the recommendations of the state and health authorities for identification of health risks, changing lifestyles, strengthening the immune system, spending most of the time outdoors and the like should be mentioned first.
