Abstract

Common mental disorders, such as depression and anxiety, like obesity, are a key  contributor to morbidity and mortality Anxiety is a condition that manifests itself with a lowered threshold of arousal in relation to various stimuli. It is manifested by indecision, impatience, inconsistency in actions, unfounded anxiety, recurring episodes of unreasonable fear of various situations, loss of mind or self-control; anxiety about one's own health, the health of loved ones, etc.  Anxiety disorders are the most prevalent mental disorders in developed countries.On the other hand, overweight (obesity) is recognized  to be one of the greatest public health problems worldwide.It can be said that affective syndromes involving anxiety and / or depression may be the most important environmental factor influencing metabolism and eating behavior to promote obesity. For the labile course of obesity, along with the physical requirements and improper dosing of food, emotional factors also play an important role. For the manifestation of weight, outside the norm, stress conditions are decisive.

In order to determine whether there is a state of anxiety in overweight people and its level, an own study was conducted, including 37 people, men and women aged 33 to 63 years. The contingent of the study was carried out in the period 2020 - 2021. Based on the set goal, the following tasks were performed:

  • development of a methodological model for conducting the research;
  • Formation of an experimental group necessary for the realization of the purpose of the research;
  • Establishing the level of anxiety in the respondents and analyzing the data obtained.

Nemchin (1966). Anthropometric studies, functional studies of the cardiovascular system and respiratory system.
