Abstract

Road safety management requires continual monitoring and knowledge of road safety current state. It means that management requires assessment of current road safety state, presented by previously defined parameters, based on which future activities and goals, wanted to be achieved, are determined. State assessment could be conducted by different types of methods and techniques. The purpose of the research is road safety assessment of some cities in The Republic of Serbia using Data Envelopment Analysis – DEA method. DEA is mathematical technique which could be successful used for efficiency quantifying. By application of input and output parameters’ assessment, some conclusions could be reached, therefore actions could be directed in order to improve road safety state. In this research input parameters are number of vehicles and number of drivers, and on the other side output parameters are number of traffic accidents and number of casualties. Assessment is conducted for seven cities in the Republic of Serbia. There are discussion of results and some of conclusions after presentation of results.
