Abstract

The increasing physical activity and development of modern sports are extremely relevant topics in recent years, given the pandemic situation in which the whole world was placed. Sport climbing and in particular the climbing of routes type "Via ferrata" gives the opportunity for a variety of organized or independent physical outdoor activity, both for athletes and for people with lower physical culture. Via ferrata is the connecting point between hiking and climbing in the mountains. Like other popular forms of mountaineering, such as alpine climbing and passing technical mountain routes, via ferrata allows more and more people to get closer to the extreme and fun nature of sports activities in the mountains and at the same time contributes to the development of physical, and mental resilience in difficult situations. Climbing a via ferrata route is a way to enjoy the splendor of the mountain, which inevitably leads to relaxation and psycho-emotional balance in the modern technological world. There are number of characteristics of the via ferrata routes, determining the condition, difficulty, and access to them. This report aims to analyze data on the characteristics of the "Via ferrata" routes in Bulgaria, thus contributing to higher awareness and opportunity for development of variety of sports activities in everyday life.
