Abstract

In order to deal with reading tasks easily, learners can use different strategies that would help them to understand the essence of the text message, to keep their attention focused on specific parts of the text or to give a general overview of what is read. Reading strategies are a very important part of instruction. They reveal how readers interact with the written text and what they do to improve text comprehension. Hence, the task of teachers is to successfully transfer those strategies to students and to create a habit for their long-term application. There are various ways of incorporating reading strategies into language instruction. In this paper, we will present four methods of implementation of reading strategies. The things they have in common is that they all put an emphasis on the previous knowledge of students in order to increase motivation and to create a relationship with the new text with the final goal of improving reading comprehension. For that purpose, students should not be passive observers of the lessons, but active participants in the learning process. That is the only way to achieve desired results
