VOCAL QUARTETS – TRADITION AND MODERNITY

Abstract

Working in large professional choirs and ensembles extremely evolve the musical singing skills and
abilities of each singer. The performance of complicated composer scores, giving "life and emotionality" to the
notes, contributes to the further development, improvement and professional experience of singing choristers. In
well-established folk choirs and ensembles, as well as the institutions for higher musical education, good performers
meet, and more and more often we witness new vocal quartets - successors to already existing ones.
The aim of each newly formed vocal quartet is, on the one hand, to assimilate and imitate an existing one, but on the
other hand, to achieve a new, better sonority, vocal unification, mastery of a stylish and effective concert repertoire,
attractiveness of its presentation and upgrading at the level achieved by previous quartets, up to this point.. In the
following lines, I will present vocal quartets arranged chronologically by their creation: "Sestri Kushlevi", "Balgarka
- Dzhuniar", "Slavey" and "Abagar"
