Abstract

The modern management practice implies effective project management based on extensive and complete
knowledge in this area. The expected results or effectiveness of this specific type of management are related to
clearly defined project objectives, provision of a mechanism to protect the interest of users in the project objectives
and constraints, financial assessment before the start of the project in terms of costs, revenues, returns and sources of
financing , a detailed plan for the implementation of the project, detailed financial planning, as well as control over
the implementation of the project.
The past decade has seen a phenomenal increase in service outsourcing and has changed the way business is done.
Cost pressure and quality improvement are the main drivers for growth in this sector. Finding its foundation first in
software development, it has slowly spread to other operational areas such as IT-supported services, with a major
part in support services such as call centers and help desks. This has further boosted business process outsourcing
(BPO) as a viable proposition in non-IT areas – for example, routine and non-core operations in accounting and
financial services, human resource administration, etc.
In this scientific article, I will look at the main factors that prompt companies to choose the strategy of management
through outsourcing projects, the most common reasons for failure in the management of outsourcing projects, as
well as opportunities for improving project management in an outsourcing environment. All this happens based on
in-depth interviews with more than 100 professionals from various fields of business, working specifically in
outsourcing organizations.
The companies of which these professionals are a part, as well as the respondents themselves, are of different
nationalities and cultures, and their experience in very different positions in the hierarchy of the companies in
question favors the collection of circumstantial and frank information
