Abstract

In modern conditions, with the growing influence of the human capital, the role of education is increasing. Objective prerequisites for rethinking the priorities of education are appearing, this changing the function of the teacher, who focuses on the study of the individual characteristics, needs and capabilities of each student. The successful completion of this function requires diagnostic competence. The paper discusses different approaches to defining the concept of “diagnostic competence”. The essence of the didactic competence of the mathematics teacher is clarified: the content of the main professional tasks, ensuring the formation of the diagnostic competence of the teacher of mathematics, is determined on the basis of their belonging to the types of professional activity: training, education and development.
