Abstract

Macedonian society has been facing social challenges resulting from the long transition process for a long time. Such challenges are reflected in all spheres of social life, leaving consequences on the economic life and quality of life of the citizens. Such challenges faced by Macedonian society are reflected and felt locally. The inflexibility of the labor market, the poverty rate, social exclusion, unemployment, uneven regional development, population migrations, environmental protection challenges, and sustainable development still remain a challenge for the municipalities and the Republic of North Macedonia as a whole. Hence the need for interest in social entrepreneurship is an imperative for social change, but also a crucial factor for the well-being of society as a whole. Social entrepreneurship is emerging as a global phenomenon led by a new breed of pragmatic, innovative, and visionary social activists, seeking social change and social impact by combining the tools of business practice, social work, and philanthropy to bring about lasting social change. This paper aims to provide a strategic direction for the long-term development of social enterprises in the municipality of Bitola.
