Abstract

Research activity (RА) in the professional field of "Healthcare" and specifically for the specialty
"Midwifery" has been developing gradually and purposefully over the last decade. In Bulgaria, the RА is regulated
by law and is organized in different forms, according to the specifics of training.
The purpose of the study is to present and analyze the results of the students of the specialty "Midwife" and their
satisfaction with the traditional forms of RA held in the past 5 years for the Faculty of Medicine at Trakia
University.
Material and methods: analysis of scientific literature, educational documentation in the 2019-2024 academic year,
documents on Projects (2020, 2022, 2024), survey, observation, statistical and graphical methods. For the purposes
of the study, 262 technical monitoring units were covered. Results and discussion: Traditionally, from the first year,
students are encouraged to develop, present and discuss scientific issues in the field of health and midwifery care.
Part of the current control of the academic disciplines includes the preparation of a Health Care Plan, a Training
Program for Disease Prevention and Prophylaxis, essays, presentations, etc. A significant interest in extracurricular
independent work is noted, as evidenced by the results obtained from students' independent work related to RA in
some academic disciplines in the field of prevention, obstetrics and health care. Student participation in scientific
forums is a traditional form of RA in Department of "Health Care" of the Faculty of Medicine of Trakia University.
During the research period, 3 scientific forums were organized and held, implemented under university projects for
scientific forums with the participation of students from the "Midwifery" specialty. Engaging students with research
activity as a form of independent work is an opportunity to: expand professional competencies and improve creative
potential, which is necessary to use more fully and expediently to solve important issues in the field of public health
