Abstract

Based on A. Bandura's theory of self-efficacy, a strategy for forming optimal efficiency and self-efficacy,
is proposed by using clinical simulations in medical education. The purpose of the study is to experimentally
evaluate the impact of simulation-based clinical learning as an educational technology to promote self-efficacy and
increase educational effectiveness in medical education. Research methodology. An experiment with a longitudinal
design was conducted. Nursing students were randomized to participate in the experiment. The students are in their
third and fourth year and study at the SWU „Neofit. Rilski“ in Blagoevgrad. The parameters of change before and
after application of clinical simulations in training were experimentally followed. Results. The effectiveness of
simulation training is demonstrated by reliably improving self-efficacy and academic performance measures, by
comparing the outcome in the experimental group at the final level with those at the beginning of the experiment.
Conclusion. Our experiment confirms the expediency of using clinical simulations in the learning process. In this
way, students gain self-efficacy and academic achievement. Research in this direction can contribute to 'filling the
gap' between theory and clinical practice, as well as provide feedback to curricula.
