Abstract

The paper presents the procedure of testing and characterization of textile waste originating from municipal solid waste. The test and characterization procedure includes: sampling, identification with waste categorization, characterization depending on the degree of danger, characterization of the subject waste as hazardous waste and determination of the concentration of hazardous substances, determination of physical-chemical and toxicological characteristics and effects on human health, determination of environmental impact and other procedures in accordance with the applied methodology and preparation of waste testing report. The testing and characterization process begins with sampling and ends with reporting. It is recommended to restore the flow of textile waste, including reusing the product in its original form (which is a common practice for reusing old clothes), recycling waste and transforming it into a new product.
