Abstract

Motivation as a concept is a crucial element for almost any human activity, an individual, a group, a collective or a business organization. Without motivation, achieving a certain goal or task or strategy is impossible. Motivation is a very complex phenomenon that is influenced by many factors of individual, cultural, ethnic, historical or managerial character. Work itself or engagement at work means satisfaction, more income and career development of the employee, but motivation is primary for the realization of many other goals and achieving greater success. Different countries of the world are trying to intervene in this direction in order to improve working conditions, flexibility of working hours, quality of life of workers, greater motivation of workers and alike. Today, employees are no longer considered implementers of tasks and messages given by senior management, but as very important human resource that affects the final result of the organization where they work. Despite the great interest in understanding and researching the motivation in the workplace, it is often misunderstood and often poorly practiced. To understand motivation, one must also understand human nature. Completely separated from the moral benefits and values ​​of an altruistic approach to treating their peers as human beings and respecting human dignity in all its forms, research shows that motivated employees are more productive and creative and vice versa. Motivation is a skill that can be learned, i.e., recognized by the managers. In order for any business to survive and succeed, a suitable way must be found to motivate its employees. In this regard, the motivation of hotel companies is an important topic, because the implementation of certain types of measures to improve and increase the motivation of employees in those companies becomes an inalienable need and necessity in the market of a country or destination and with the help of this concept the set goals and objectives can be achieved more easily. Motivation offers countless opportunities in the growth and development, not only of hotel companies, but also of the entire economy of a country. The purpose and the subject of research of this paper is the motivation of the hotel managers in Prishtina (Republic of Kosovo), as well as the motivation models and expectations of those managers, trying to explain some specific parameters in the work of managers with their companies. Motivation in tourism and hospitaity, on the other hand, explains and takes into account the psychological aspect of man in this field. This analysis does not cover all aspects of research, because it is a very broad concept and scope, so we decided to address only a few important aspects of motivation.
