Abstract

Hospitality and tourism are very important component of the any country development. A rich tourist
offer leads to a large number of visitors and thus to an increase in the economic wealth of a country. The
competitiveness of a tourist destination depends on the level of the tourist offer quality of that destination, and above
all on the accommodation offer. The ability of hospitality facilities to provide innovative products, services and
activities is very important in order to satisfy the demands of consumers. A condition for the survival of modern
organizations in an unstable environment is their ability to be innovative and to use all the advantages of innovation.
In today's business conditions, hospitality and tourism are faced with a wide variety of consumer demands and the
crisis caused by the Covid-19 virus pandemic. The Covid-19 pandemic is a huge challenge for society and
organizations around the world. While some areas of business suffered minor consequences, hospitality and tourism
did not have opportunities for their business for months.
The closures and curfews have changed the way hospitality business will be conducted in the future, with all the
new rules and regulations regarding hygiene and social distancing, along with very concerned guests. Considering
this severe crisis that is still ongoing, organizations in the tourism and hospitality sector need adequate mechanisms
for recovery.
Considering that there is more and more significant competition and that the demands of guests are becoming more
intense, hospitality facilities must adapt to the changes that occur in the environment as quickly as possible in order
not to lose the race on the market. Modern users of hospitality and tourism services have a large number of offers
and are becoming more saturated. Meeting the needs of service users and exceeding expectations, which leads to
loyal customers and higher profitability, can be achieved through continuous improvement of the offer. Consumers
are always looking for something new, different from what they have seen on the market, and precisely for this
reason, innovation is a critical success factor and a condition without which hospitality and tourism organizations
cannot survive in the market in the long term.
The aim of the paper is to point out the importance of innovations in hospitality and tourism, as important branches
of the country development, in the conditions of the pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus, which has led to major
changes in the market.
