Abstract

In the modern world, the equality of men and women in civilized societies is something normal and indisputable. But how did it get here and what media factors influenced the process of development, awareness and emancipation? An expression of modernization in Bulgaria after Liberation and one of its main drivers is the periodical press. The Bulgarian women's periodical is an independent category - a contributing factor to education, homemaking, health, fashion, literature, basic civil rights, general culture. The driving force behind the changes are the ladies from the intellectual elite - educated urban women from wealthy families who have accepted the role of "builders of modern Bulgaria". It is a fact that the world of traditional patriarchal values is undergoing a radical evolution, which is due to the tireless, constant, long-lasting and by no means light efforts of many participants in these processes. These are the activists, the authors, the publishers, the readers, the followers, even the opponents of the changes. Their actions - visible or invisible to the public, create today's social, cultural and media environment, which is a qualitatively new paradigm of modern society. The object of the article is the historical and analytical tracing of the main processes that led to the reshaping of traditional public attitudes in Bulgarian society and the role of some of the main actors. The subject of the present work is the presentation of an extract substance of the new for liberated Bulgaria media, their new target - women and the new trends that led to the changes. The purpose of the publication is to highlight the specifics and approaches of the new for the patriarchally minded Bulgarians household editions and to show the qualitative social changes in the consciousness of the Bulgarian society from the first half of the 20th century.
