Abstract

Conflicts in the organization arise from different assumptions, needs, goals and activities. Organizational culture reduces the possibilities of conflict or their faster overcoming. Strengthening the organizational culture reduces the possibility of conflict, and the task of leaders is to resolve conflicts. By reducing the time and energy lost for unproductive purposes, organizational culture improves the quality of the organization's economy. When conflict situations arise among people in organizations, leaders need to resolve them and further improve organizational culture. The choice of methods used in the paper is determined by the nature of the problem and the goal that is within the subject of research. The paper will use the cabinet and empirical method of analysis. In accordance with the topic of the paper, reference literature in the field of organizational culture and human resource management, as well as conflict management in the organization will be studied. The subject of this paper is that the research, which through the analysis of the results of the survey should provide insight into: 1) whether there are conflicts among employees in the Ministry of Interior of Serbia; 2) whether the conflict violates the organizational culture; 3) what is the role of leaders in overcoming conflicts and further development of organizational culture; 4) how conflicts can affect the execution of work tasks. Good and skillful communication that leaders should use in resolving conflicts has proven to be extremely important. The aim of the research is to point out the fact that the task of a leader is, among other things, to resolve conflicts efficiently and effectively. The subject of the research was realized by collecting and analyzing data based on which information was obtained about the organizational culture in the Ministry of the Interior and how leaders resolve conflict situations if they occur. The results of the research showed that conflicts are a constant occurrence in this organization. The research was conducted by the method of structured communication, ie. survey, and the paper presents the most significant results. The research mostly covers women, 20 or 65% of them, while 11 and 35% of the surveyed men. The expected benefit of the research results is to help leaders to properly manage conflicts in teamwork, with the aim of preserving a good organizational culture. It is concluded that the respondents do not like to stir up a conflict if it occurs but try to solve the problems in a peaceful way, if possible. Cooperation among colleagues is always the best solution, which achieves the best results and builds a good organizational culture. As many as 90% of respondents believe that the word of the leader should be the last, which means that they are ready to listen and respect the opinion of the leader. It can be said that for the organization, conflict is not the first solution that will be sought and the possibility of resolving disputes between employees. Rather, it can be said that employees are firmly determined to do everything in a peaceful way, by exchanging ideas and information, accepting other people's views, if they assess them correctly, to maintain a positive level of organizational culture and prevent any conflict. Based on the answers to the questions asked, we come to a general recommendation that conflicts exist, but that leaders should resolve them appropriately. At the same time, avoiding conflict is not always desirable, because management does not have insight into which employees are more oriented towards the progress of the organization and the implementation of the vision.
