Abstract

Increased metabolic requirements for nutrition during pregnancy and lactation, respectively - the specific needs for energy and nutrients identify pregnant women as a risk population group in which both nutritional deficiencies and surpluses adversely affect maternal health and fetal growth and development.
This article presents the main recommendations and requirements for the diet of pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Based on recommendations set out in: The European Community Health Strategy of 2004;“Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health”, 2005 (EU Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health, 2005).
In order to minimize the health risks for the mother and the newborn, obese pregnant women should not gain> 7 kg for the entire pregnancy. As a rule, it is recommended to lose weight before pregnancy or after birth. In practice, however, this often proves impossible and debatable.
The purpose of this article is to present the established practices and guidelines for healthy eating during pregnancy and lactation, and to achieve the results we conducted a survey that confirms the good results of following a healthy diet.
A well-balanced diet containing one representative of all food groups does not require daily enrichment of the diet with multivitamins, polyminerals or other nutritional supplements during pregnancy and lactation.
If for health, religious, personal reasons, very restrictive diets, etc., there is an exclusion of some of these important food groups, it is necessary to supplement the diet with certain vitamins, minerals or combined products (it is good to do after consultation with a specialist. obstetrician-gynecologist and / or nutritionist).
A healthy diet is an important part of a healthy lifestyle at any time but is especially vital for pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Eating healthily during pregnancy will help baby to develop and grow.
