Abstract

In this paper the attention will be focused on detecting the differences and similarities in the structure and semantic meaning of adjuncts of place among English and Albanian language. Special attention will be referred to the consideration of the position of adjuncts of placein the sentence in Albanianand English language, starting with thefactthat Albanianhas a free positioning systemof the sentence constituents, on the other hand, English has a closed system for the position of sentence constituents.
Since the nature of the topic itself requires comparison, the main method used in theelaborationof this research paper is the comparative method with the purpose of highlighting the differences and similarities between these two languages. The descriptive method is also used to describe linguistic phenomena which are the targets in this thesis. The description was based on the consulted bibliography by many scientists and researchers.
Differences arising from this research give us a clear idea that syntactic elements of a language can be better understood when compared to other language, not only by syntactic structures but also by semantic meanings.
